There are several different stances, several different strides, and several different swings. So why would you make every player out to be the same? At Club Nine we would not try to teach Ichiro to hit like Albert Pujols or Dustin Pedroia to hit like Alex Rodriguez. Every player is different, so no hitting instruction is the same. We emphasize balance, creating bat speed from the ground up, staying through the baseball and finishing in a strong, athletic position. Muscle memory is key to a young player’s success, being able to repeat their swing. The hardest thing to do in sports is hit a baseball.
Not only do we have a variety of drills and techniques to help players create bat speed and power to all fields, but we also strongly believe in having an approach at the plate. A good approach turns a good hitter into a great hitter. Players U13-U18 should plan for a 15 minute warm-up and active stretch program before their session and a 15 minute core program following each session. (15 min. stretch, 1 or ½ hour session, 15 min post session work out) All players should show up 10-15 minutes prior to their session to participate in our active stretch and warm up program.
